Puerto Viejo

Puerto Viejo

The old fishing village of Puerto Viejo is located in a picturesque place with a great variety of beaches among palm trees and impenetrable tropical jungle, where a great number of exotic animals have made their home, such as monkeys of different types, sloths, anteaters,  parrots, toucans, etc.

This is where the heart of the Caribbean beats in Costa Rica: salsa, sun, sombreros and lots of Latin and Caribbean flavor come together here with Creole cuisine, raggea and rastafari.

People from all over the world are attracted by this magical combination and many of them have stayed here. With about 2,000 inhabitants and people of more than 40 different nationalities, Puerto Viejo is a cosmopolitan town without losing its original Caribbean character.
